EVS meeting

Last week we had an EVS midterm evaluation in Korte, Izola. There were all the EVS volunteers whose projects are approximately on the half way. I'll be in Slovenia for one year, and now it's been a bit more than 5 months.

The training was about different activities and conversations linked on life in different country and culture, volunteering, working in different organizations and so on. We were talking through all the positive experiences but as well also about problems what me might face when living in a different culture with new people.

One day we had a project day. Our task was to promote EVS for young people. With our group we went to Koper, talking with people on the street and of course had some free time to see the coast :-) Some of us also went to swim, while others were enjoying the sun on the beach 8)

On the last evening we went to Piran and had a dinner all together in a restaurant. What a delicious fish food we had!

It's always fun with EVS volunteers, right?!

All in all, for me this last (almost) half a year has gave a lot. New experiences, points of view, and especially learning about myself a lot. When talking with other people who are in a same situation, it gives a new perspective also for yourself. It's fun to think that I had to travel thousands of kilometers to find myself but that's true. :-)

Bit & Beat

 Pictures: Matjaz Jazbar
On Friday 7th of June I participated on Bit & Beat, an art event in Vipavski Kriz organized by Hisa Mladih. We started the day before noon, some people making photographs, some drawings, paintings, dresses, what ever you're interested in. Then on the afternoon/evening we had an exhibition in the Vipavski Kriz gallery of everything what was done that day.

I guess these pictures will tell more than words :-)

I've been really happy to start drawing again. I've liked making arts every since I was a kid, but in the past years I didn't really have time for that because of other hobbies. Mostly I'm using just pencil to make black and white pictures. Drawings below (lower on the picture, upper one made by Matija Kete):

Velika Planina

Last Sunday we went hiking to Velika Planina. At first on Saturday I went to Ljubljana to meet some other EVS-volunteers and to say goodbye to Daniela, who is leaving back home on Monday.

I stayed the night at my friends place and on the morning at 9 with Balazs and Ivano we started the trip to Kamnik from Ljubljana bus station. After around 50 minutes we changed the bus to Stahovica. Then the hiking part began! On the start the sign to Velika Planina said 3 hours 20 minutes, but somehow we have always a tradition to over these limits...

So, after 4 hours and 30 minutes we arrived to Mala Planina and had a break for lunch in a restaurant. The last part of the walk was rainy so it was good to warm a bit. After the rest the final part of hiking started. We were planning to go down by a cabel car, and local people gave an advice that it will take around one hour to walk there. The time we had was 45 minutes, so lets run! Last sign which we saw showed for 20 minutes, but we did it in 10 minutes and barely caught the cabel car at 5pm. Huh :-)

The bus trip back to Ljubljana was a bit interesting as well. Because for some unknown reason our bus didn't stop on the bus stop we had to figure out some other way... Next bus would arrive after two hours, so an extempore idea was to hitchhike to Kamnik bus station and then take a bus to Ljubljana. Been there done that :-D

It's really nice that there are so many wonderful opportunities for hiking in Slovenia. Beautiful nature, fresh water flowing down the streams and a view of high mountains :-)
